'Thirst' Trailer Gripping Without English Subs

Big surprise, I know, but I'm unbearably stoked for the Korean director's next film. Just the statement "From the Director of Oldboy and Lady Vengeance comes a Vampire Movie" has a potent ring to it. The true testament to devotion to the director lies in his venture into comedy, I'm a Cyborg, a film that I enjoyed even despite the high-pitched tones that the overwhelmingly dark director tried to work with in his first outing outside of the Vengeance Trilogy.

Yeah, you can't understand a damn word of it if you don't understand Korean, but the visual imagery alone gives us a taste of what's to come. Park Chan-wook quickly became a modern favorite of mine after Lady Vengeance -- I know, I know, Oldboy's a better film. But when he delivered a successful follow-up with the close of his trilogy -- the first being Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance -- it became obvious that a real great was cropping up. Mix that with my always-curious eye for compelling vampire films, and you've got, quite possibly, my most anticipated film of the year in Thirst.
